Who are these lovely people that call themselves realtors?
Jerry Ahlvers started a career in teaching and high school counseling. In 1972, he saw an opportunity to sell real estate when interest rates were 12% and 14%! I mean who would not jump in the game with rates like that?! Jerry has been extremely active in governmental affairs for realtors. He has been an Omaha Area Board of Realtors past president (2008), NE Realtor of the Year (2010), visited with State Senators in Washington D.C. and traveled across NE talking with other realtors. Whew! He's been a busy man. Jerry's knowledge of real estate is invaluable.
Jerry has been extremely active in the Dundee neighborhood over the years. He and his late wife, Hedy, purchased a home in Dundee in 1969, started renovating and is still living in that home today. They raised 3 children, 5 grandchildren, 4 dogs, 5 cats and too many fish & hamsters to count... don't forget the bird too. Jerry is passionate about Dundee and all that the neighborhood has to offer. He and Hedy, were past DMPA (Dundee Memorial Park Neighborhood Association) president, secretary and headed the Streetcar project located @ Happy Hollow & Underwood - if you haven't seen this you must check it out! It is really a unique project. Jerry continues to be a pillar of the community, incredible father, beloved grandfather and a wealth of knowledge. Raquel learns from him everyday.
Raquel Ahlvers had a successful career in sales and management and in 1999, decided to see what all the fuss was about in real estate. She was hooked from the start. She and her husband also live in Dundee, just a block away from where she grew up. They are raising 2 wonderful children. When her kids were @ Dundee Elementary she was involved in all her kids did. From PTO, to Girl Scout leader, party planner and general volunteer. Raquel knows what Dundee meant to her growing up and wants to make sure that Dundee is just as special for her children and those around her. Raquel has a passion for architecture, old and new. Don't be surprised if she finds the crown molding, built-in buffet or the original kitchen cabinets the most exciting thing about a house. The craftsmanship they put into homes back then was truly an art form. She is partial to mid-century modern design and loves the idea of restoration. Taking the time to save what we have and making it new again is how strong foundations are built. That's the kind of dedication you can expect from The Ahlvers Group.
